Two friends and labelmates will be dueling for the same JUNO Award as Mo Kenney and her mentor Joel Plaskett have been nominated for the Adult Alternative Album of the Year. Mo Kenney’s sophomore album In My Dreams album came out September 25, 2014 to critical acclaim, saw her travelling around the globe and gaining new fans. Joel Plaskett’s ninth studio album The Park Avenue Sobriety Test came out March 17, 2015 and was long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. This will be Joel’s seventh JUNO nomination and Mo’s first.
The nominees for the 2016 JUNO Awards were announced by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) at a press conference at The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto this morning. JUNO Week runs from March 28 – April 3, 2016 in Calgary and the awards will take place Sunday night on April 3.
