Polaris Cover Sessions: Joel Plaskett Covers “Bittersweet Melodies” By Feist
In the fifth installment of the Polaris Cover Sessions, Joel Plaskett has done his own take on Feist’s “Bittersweet Melodies” from her 2014 Polaris Music Prize-winning album Metals. The Cover Sessions have past Polaris nominees reimagining other nominees’ tracks and had their first vinyl pressing done for last year’s gala.
Performed and filmed at Joel’s New Scotland Yard studio in Dartmouth with the help of Erin Costelo and Thomas Stajcer, Joel describes the cover as “trying to make it sound like Joel Plaskett covering Feist covering the Bee Gees covering Feist.”
Joel’s last album The Park Avenue Sobriety Test earned him his fourth Polaris nomination, putting him in company with Patrick Watson and The New Pornographers for the most nominations since the inception of the award in 2006.
